Centre County has a rich agricultural heritage dating to the implementation of the first “state college” for agriculture, now of course internationally recognized as The Pennsylvania State University or “Penn State”. Centre County Farm Bureau is just one of many active and effective agricultural organizations that exist within the county to help preserve and promote agriculture, education, farming and country life.
The overall Pennsylvania Farm Bureau organization is based on a grass roots structure whereby members in each of the 54 county bureaus develop policy recommendations. The Centre County Farm Bureau Board of Directors meets each month to work on projects, discuss legislation and plan events to help promote knowledge and awareness of agriculture in Pennsylvania. Board members work hard to promote agriculture in our community and provide a way for the community and county residents to have a voice on agricultural related issues.
Centre County Farm Bureau events include member meetings in the spring, summer and fall, a fundraising auction and a ticket raffle to support agricultural education and promotion efforts. The Board of Directors also regularly meets with county and state Legislators to share issues and successes from the farming community. Once a year the Board hosts Legislators at a farm within the community to highlight successes within our community and to discuss policy issues.
