DIRECTOR: Andy Bater (917) 270-5193  or switchgrassfarmer@gmail.com
Andy spent nearly thirty years as a radio and television engineer, engineering live concerts and events, directing capital construction projects, managing disaster recovery efforts (9/11 and Katrina), and coordinating regulatory and standards work for the HDTV transition.   These days he no longer rides the Amtrak Acela train to D.C., and receives no frequent flyer points for time spent on his Case IH tractor.  (Andy comes from a “red tractor” farm family...)

Drawn back to the land, Andy succeeded in buying the single worst farm in PA as the location for the new “green” home that he and his wife Chris have just finished constructing.  At the farm, affectionately named “Shale Acres”, he grows switchgrass that he sells to biofuel researchers for densification and biofuel studies, to organic vegetable and fruit growers for mulch, and for animal bedding.   Andy looks forward to the day when his entire crop will be sold to one biorefinery, or he can just watch cattle graze his rocky land, that is if they don't tip over and tumble down the hill.

DIRECTOR: Dave Fetterolf fetterolffamilyfarms@gmail.com
Dave is one of the owners and operators of Fetterolf Family Farms, a
pasture-raised grass-fed beef operation in the heart of central Pennsylvania. From Fetterolf Family Farms and Nature's Pantry website: "We raise our beef in the most humane and ethical ways possible. Dave has raised cows and pigs his whole life on the same farm our beef products come from now. To see his way of doing things, you’ll know his heart is in farming for more than the profit. Our cows are never crammed into tractor trailers to be dragged away from their land and the only life they’ve ever known. They get to grow up alongside their mothers with the natural milk they were designed to drink, and then on the grass they need and desire to mature. The beef cows stay on our farm from the time they are born, until they are matured and ready for butcher. They live a life of open pastures, secure shelter, clean fresh spring water, and sunshine. No cow is missed under the watchful eyes of Dave and [his father] Donn. They don’t raise more animals than what they can sustainably support, watch over, and meet demand with. When a customer buys our products, we want them to know exactly what they’re getting and how it got there. We will continue to strive to offer what is best for the health of our customers, our animals, and our environment."
