This time last year, I remarked about the dry summer and how the corn and soybeans could have used more rain. What a difference a year makes! With steady rain all summer long, the hay making was quite challenging and the grain crops look very good.
I’d like to mention some of the activities that your farm bureau participated in this summer. At our summer picnic, we held a benefit auction with donations coming from local businesses. We were able to raise about $1000 to provide support for several of our scholarship programs. The policy development exercise at the picnic was also very helpful to guide the board in moving forward with finalizing that process at our annual meeting. We also had a children’s educational booth at the People’s Choice Arts Festival in Boalsburg in July. At the Centre Hall town-wide yard sale, we set up a table and sold raffle tickets.
Speaking of tickets, don’t forget to turn yours in by our annual meeting on October 10th. You can also bring them along to the meeting that night.
Thank you for your continued support of Centre County Farm Bureau. You have built a successful organization. With your continued support, we will continue to grow. Please support our Allied Industries, they always support our efforts. Also, check out our list of local benefit providers on our website. I can also provide you with the list as well.
